What it is
This is the in-tank fuel lift pump that comes as factory-standard equipment on A4-body Pumpe Düse (PD/BEW) diesels. KermaTDI also uses it as a performance upgrade on VE-injection-pump TDI models that didn't originally come with it.
Two different uses for the same part
Why it helps on VE-pump cars
Adding this pump improves suction-side feed pressure into the injection pump, which improves injection pump performance and longevity. It also adds throttle responsiveness, particularly in the mid and upper RPM range.
Installation difference by application — important
If you need this for a different engine
This specific listing covers BEW and VE-pump ALH-era applications. A separate SKU exists for BRM/CJAA/CBEA-engine VWs and CJAA-engine Audi A3 TDIs — that's a different part number, not interchangeable with this one.
Fitment
1999–2006 VW Golf, Jetta, Jetta Wagon, and New Beetle, covering both ALH (VE pump, upgrade application) and BEW (PD, OEM application) engine years.

Common questions
Is this a stock part or a performance upgrade for my car? Depends on your engine. Stock/OEM if you have a BEW. A performance upgrade — not originally equipped — if you have an ALH, Mk3 Jetta, or B4 Passat VE-pump engine.
Does this pump include the wiring and relay I need for my ALH? No. If installing on a VE-pump car that didn't originally have this pump, you need to source the wiring and relay separately — they're not included.
Will this same part work on my BRM, CJAA, or CBEA-engine VW? No — those engines need a different SKU/part number, which KermaTDI sells separately.
What does this pump actually improve on a VE-pump car? Suction-side feed pressure to the injection pump, which helps injection pump longevity and adds throttle responsiveness, especially at mid-to-upper RPM.
