In Memory of Dick Shine
Shine Racing Service was founded by Dick Shine, whose work developing race suspensions and advising the touring car community shaped the handling philosophy behind every product that carries the Shine name. He passed away, but the engineering approach he built, correct geometry over cosmetic lowering, continues in every kit sold here. Kerma TDI is proud to keep his legacy on the road.
Why Real Street Suspension
Volkswagens carry 65 to 70 percent of their weight over the front wheels, which causes understeer. Larger front sway bars make this worse by unloading the inside front wheel under hard cornering, causing wheelspin, a real handicap in autocross and spirited driving. The Real Street system is built to minimize understeer and maximize grip instead.

Will these springs lower my car?
No. Unlike typical lowering springs, the Real Street kit is set up at a ride height chosen for correct suspension geometry, since lowering a Mk4 usually hurts handling rather than helping it.
Do I need new struts or shocks with this spring kit?
You can run the springs on their own, but Kerma TDI recommends pairing them with Bilstein HD or Koni Special Active struts and shocks for the full Real Street handling improvement.
Who was Dick Shine?
Dick Shine founded Shine Racing Service and developed the Real Street Suspension philosophy that these springs are built on. He has since passed away, and Kerma TDI, as the exclusive distributor of Shine Racing products, continues to build and sell his designs in his memory.
