Description

What it is
This is a Kerma performance tune for the VW Touareg 3.0L TDI, model years 2009–2016. It's delivered one of two ways depending on model year and ECU: OBD flashing via the Q-PRO+ programmer, or bench tuning (ECU removed and mailed to KermaTDI).

Performance gains

  • +50 whp, +80 wtq (dyno-measured at the wheels, not crank)
  • Up to 10% MPG improvement on long-distance driving, tested after the VW emissions fix
  • Improved throttle response and reduced turbo lag
  • More power delivered in the mid and top RPM range
  • Tune uses stock hardware — no supporting mods required

Which delivery method applies to your car — this is the critical compatibility fact

  • Most 2009–2016 models: OBD flash via the Q-PRO+ module. Install yourself at home; no mechanic visit needed.
  • All 2009 models: Require bench tuning. The ECU must be removed and mailed to KermaTDI's tuning headquarters — this cannot be done via OBD flash.
  • Some 2010 models: Also require bench tuning. Check your ECU's EDC number — if it reads EDC17CP24, you need bench tuning, not OBD flash. Call 877-537-6283 to confirm before ordering if you're unsure which ECU your 2010 has.

The Q-PRO+ programmer

  • Stores both stock and tuned maps — switch back to stock before a dealer visit, then re-flash the tune afterward
  • Requires a Windows PC. It does not work with macOS.

Requirements and limitations

  • Requires the vehicle's stock emissions system to be intact. This tune will not work with a modified or removed emissions system.
  • Vehicle year/model and tuning option must be specified at checkout.

Fitment
2009–2016 Volkswagen Touareg, 3.0L TDI engine

Common questions

Can I flash the tune myself on a 2009 Touareg? No. All 2009 models require bench tuning — the ECU has to be mailed in, not flashed over OBD.

How do I know if my 2010 Touareg needs bench tuning? Check the ECU's EDC number. If it's EDC17CP24, you need bench tuning. Other 2010 ECUs can use the OBD-flash Q-PRO+ method.

Does the Q-PRO+ work on a Mac? No, Windows only.

Will this tune work if I've removed my emissions equipment? No, it's built for the stock emissions configuration and won't function correctly with emissions components removed.

Does the power gain shown include drivetrain loss? No, the 50whp/80wtq figures are measured at the wheels (dyno), not at the crank.
