What It Is
A set of four genuine Bosio Sprint 520 (BSLA 150P 520) injector nozzles, the nozzle that started the "Phat Hole" upgrade trend in the TDI community. These are the same nozzles used in the European 110 hp version of this engine, sized to flow noticeably more fuel than the North American 90 hp nozzles they replace.
Why It Works
Recommended Add-On
Pair this with Kerma TDI's Injector Calibration Service. Properly calibrating the injectors around these nozzles is what gets you clean, consistent performance instead of a rough or uneven fuel curve.
Fitment
1996 to 2003 Volkswagen Golf, Jetta, Jetta Wagon, New Beetle, and Passat with the 1.9L TDI VE-pump engine (AHU, 1Z, ALH).
FAQ
What does "Phat Hole" mean?
It's the nickname the TDI community gave these nozzles because of their larger .205mm spray holes compared to the stock nozzle. It's become the common shorthand for this upgrade.
Will this hurt my fuel economy?
No. Kerma TDI states there's no economy penalty during normal driving. The extra fuel only comes into play when you're actually asking the engine for more power.
Do I need anything else installed with these nozzles?
The nozzles themselves are a bolt-in replacement, but Kerma TDI recommends the Injector Calibration Service to properly set them up for ideal performance rather than running them uncalibrated.
Can I buy just one nozzle instead of a set of four?
Yes, single nozzles are sold separately if you only need to replace one.
Does this fit my common rail TDI?
No. This nozzle is for the older VE rotary-pump 1.9L TDI engines (AHU, 1Z, ALH) found in 1996 to 2003 Golf, Jetta, New Beetle, and Passat models, not the later PD or common rail engines.
