A Note on "Smart" vs "Dumb" Actuators
This is the "dumb" actuator, without the position sensor. Kerma tuning can eliminate the need for that sensor on turbo applications that originally came with the "smart" actuator, bypassing the check engine light it would otherwise trigger. That makes this slightly less expensive dumb actuator usable in more applications than it would be otherwise.
Adapting to Borg Warner Turbos
This actuator can also be adapted to fit the Borg Warner KP39 factory turbo on 2004-2006 New Beetle TDI, 2004-2006 Golf TDI, and 2004-2005 Jetta TDI. The modification requires a few dollars in hardware store parts, along with modest fabrication skills and some patience.
