Most BEW and BHW TDI will use the N10591609 (7 volt plugs) instead of these
Please call if you don't know which glow plugs you have
Set of 4 Quality German MadeOEM Glow Plugs
BEW engine A4 chassis (2004-2006) Golf TDI, New Beetle TDI
BEW engine A4 chassis (2004-2005) Jetta TDI
BRM engine A5 chassis (2005-2006) Jetta TDI
BHW engine B5.5 chassis (2004-2005) Passat TDI
Note: These glow plugs are 5volt steel design, which required an engine software update. The older ceramic tipped glow plugs are no longer available, but the updated part number for the 7v plugs is N10591609, which we also have available.A few years ago if you were to go to the dealer needing glow plugs, they would have changed you over to the newer steel tip plugs and performed an engine software update. These (N10591605) are those early replacement 5v plugs.
You can verify the software version's compatibility by looking in VCDS engine controller screen. An updated ECU will have "997" as the 3 middle digits instead of "906" as viewed in the engine controller screen of VCDS. If you don't know what this means, give us a call and we will be happy to help. There were a few engine software updates. The earlier updates used these 5V plugs, but the more recent updates used the newer 7v plugs with a part number ending in "9"
If your ECU is not compatible at the same time these plugs are installed, the new plugs may be burned up within a few engine starts.
We can do either software update for you (requires sending in your ECU to us) select the option above. However, we recommend the newer update which uses the newer 7v plugs. We will include this update free as part of our chiptuning service when you buy a Q-loader or bench tune. However, you will still need to send the ecu in for updating to the new version, because the update changes areas of the ecu that are not accessible using OBD tuning tools (like the Q-loader).There are a number of driveability changes in the software update, so it is well worth doing.
If you have a BEW engine, the only other place to have this update performed is the VW dealer. They will charge almost as much as a chiptune, so might as well get a more powerful car by sending us the ecu for tuning, instead!
